State of the Riverbank
Saturday, June 27th 10am-12pm – Caughlin Park
Join Iris Jehle-Peppard, One Truckee River’s Executive Director, for a walk along the Truckee River Path. Together, we’ll observe and document the state of the river while learning about regional coordinated vegetation management efforts.
As we stroll along the Truckee, we’ll note the plant species we find – and talk about why they matter so much for wildlife, residents, and visitors. We’ll share an update on One Truckee River's riverbank repair projects along key stretches of the waterway flowing through the heart of our community. As we explore, we’ll discover more about local efforts to improve the Truckee River Corridor.

Daniel Moss, from the City of Reno, will discuss the Stormwater Committee's efforts to improve the Truckee Meadow's overall watershed health, future watershed restoration projects, and how citizens can prevent stormwater pollution within their neighborhoods.
Discovering the Native Plants of Lake Park
Saturday, July 25th 9am-11AM – Lake Park
Nevada is home to 2,800+ types of native plants. Learn how to spot them – and why they’re important to our local environment – on a FREE docent-led walk! Lake Park has always been home to many native species, including trees, grasses, riparian plants, and flowers. Since April 2024, our coalition of partners has helped reintroduce many native plants to Lake Park, and we’re excited to share with you how they’ve been thriving.
On this native plant walk, Emma Wynn and Hannah Bishop-Moser from the Nevada Native Plant Society will guide you through Lake Park. We’ll talk about how to identify native plants, the benefits they have for the plants, animals, and peoples who call our high desert ecosystem home.
We appreciate the Truckee river every day. you’re invited to join us.
In addition to our community events, One Truckee River hosts tree planting days, community cleanups, and more. For corporate groups, we offer fully-customizable offsite events and team building opportunities.
