Wildflower Sketching Hike – CANCELED

May 21 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

UPDATE: This event has been canceled due to weather.

Did you know that if you can become a better artist, you can strengthen your skills as a naturalist?

Join Sarah Hockensmith as she combines art and science for a mellow hike at Page Meadows, to sketch some of Tahoe’ s wildflowers and landscapes. We will hike a total of one mile in search of higher elevation wildflowers. We will practice blind contour techniques and dive in to some wildflower sketching.

No experience necessary. All ages welcome.

Please bring warm layers, bug spray, a journal (or sketching paper) and pencil, and a drink to enjoy while sketching.

What we can learn from sketching is how to look at things very specifically, for details. And that helps a lot when you are trying to identify something like a wildflower or bird. The more you can look dive into the different parts of what you are observing, the better you will understand it.
