Peavine Mountain Clean Up Day
July 13, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am
The Carson Ranger District on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is hosting a Peavine Mountain Clean-Up Day on Saturday, July 13 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Ranger District is looking for individuals or groups interested in participating.
The event will be held at different locations along Peavine Road, located about 16 miles northeast of Reno, Nevada. Signs will direct volunteers to where they can check-in and locations of clean-up assignments. Check-in will start around 7:30 a.m. DIRECTIONS: Take US-395 N to Stead Blvd. (Exit 76); turn left onto Stead Blvd.; turn right onto N. Virginia St.; turn left onto Peavine Rd.
Volunteers will clean up trash that has been illegally dumped on Peavine Mountain. Trash bags will be provided. All participants must wear work boots, gloves, hats, pants, and long-sleeve shirts. Volunteers are encouraged to dress in layers and bring a rake or shovel, sunscreen, sunglasses, and plenty of water and snacks.
The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is finding that illegal dumping continues to be a serious problem on all districts of the Forest. Dumping destroys the natural beauty and habitat of National Forest System lands and discourages people from visiting areas where dumping is occurring.
