Would you like to witness one of the most unique mating rituals in North America? Please join David on this Lahontan Audubon sponsored field trip to see Sage Grouse courtship! These birds are on the lek before sunrise, so plan to get up early, so we can be there before the show is over. This tour also includes a visit to Honey Lake wetlands with potential for numerous waterfowl and raptor species. Participants will meet at the McDonald’s at 1810 Silverada Blvd. (Oddie Blvd.), two blocks east of Highway 395 in Sparks at 4:00 a.m. Depending on road conditions, only four-wheel drive or high clearance vehicles will be able to drive to the lek, so please keep that in mind and be prepared to carpool at McDonald’s. Pack a lunch, drinks, binoculars, field guide, and a scope and window mount if you have one. Bring warm clothes, as it is often windy and very cold in the early morning. Please contact the trip leader for more details, or if you have any questions regarding this trip.
